More About Leeds
Leeds is the largest city in West Yorkshire, having grown from a small manorial borough in the 13th century to a major manufacturer and trade centre for wool by the 17th century.
Leeds’ Victoria Gate shopping centre is a fine example of a modernised Victorian arcade and Leeds Corn Exchange is a further remnant from the Victorian era with a circular domed design.
The Leeds Grand Theatre is home to the only national opera company located outside of London. The city also hosts the Royal Armouries Museum, which displays the UK’s official collection of historical arms and armour.
