Fire Suppression System

A fire suppression system is essential to protect occupants and property from the danger of fire.

Armstrong Priestley is a UK market leader in designing, fabricating, and installing fire suppression systems.

We specialise in automatic fire suppression, and our fire sprinkler systems are in demand to protect against any fire risk, from a house sprinkler system to commercial premises containing high-value assets.

What are automatic fire suppression systems?

An automatic fire suppression system includes detection, control, and extinguishing systems that operate without human activation. They protect life and property in various contexts, from commercial kitchens to data centres.

Armstrong Priestley automatic fire suppression systems

Armstrong Priestley automatic fire suppression systems are specifically designed for each client and are designed with four objectives in mind:

  • To protect life
  • To protect high-value assets
  • To minimise disruption to commercial activity
  • To protect property

Our sprinkler systems can be designed to use different fire suppression products, and our expert team can give expert advice on the fire suppression system required for various building types.

Which fire suppression agent is best for my fire protection needs?

Inert gas fire suppression systems

Our inert gas fire suppression systems, such as IG55 or IG541, produce a colourless, odourless, non-conductive gas. This blend of gases is safe for use in occupied areas and does not affect visibility, allowing for safe and speedy evacuation. Inert gases are ideal for use in environments that contain flammable liquids. The inert gases used are safe for the environment and do not add to global warming.

Chemical gas suppression systems

Our chemical gas fire suppression systems, including NOVEC 1230, are ideal for occupied areas without any compromise in their effectiveness. An advantage of chemical gas suppression is that even a small amount of gas is a powerful fire suppression agent. This means that fewer sprinklers are required. There is no residue or water damage after the dispersal of a chemical agent, so less time is spent cleaning up, and normal operations can resume quickly.

Carbon dioxide fire suppression systems

Carbon dioxide fire suppression systems flood the affected area with the gas, rapidly suppressing the flames. The high levels of carbon dioxide used make these types of fire suppression hazardous for humans. However, carbon dioxide fire suppression is ideal for unoccupied areas where the use of water would be inappropriate. It is often used by clients who want to protect areas such as server rooms.

Carbon dioxide is also the preferred gaseous agent for local application in particularly high fire-risk areas where process machines or appliances are used, including kitchen fire suppression systems.

Water mist systems

In water mist systems, sprinkler heads produce very small droplets of water at high pressure. When the water mist comes into contact with heat, it turns to vapour, which absorbs heat and quickly smothers the flames.

Water mist systems are one of our most popular fire suppression solutions. They are appropriate for a variety of contexts, including premises with occupants.

Aerosol suppression systems

Our aerosol-based fire suppression systems use the latest generation of FPC compounds, comprised of potassium salts and non-pyrotechnic materials. This system induces a chemical reaction to extinguish the flames and is ideal for many commercial environments.
